PURPOSE:To prevent the slippage of position of printing effectively by a method wherein an electrode arranged asymmetrically to a deflecting plane for an ink droplet is provided between a deflecting electrode and recording paper. CONSTITUTION:Ink in an ink jet head 10 is pressurized by a pressure pump and excited by an electrostrictive vibrator 20 and thereby is jetted out from orifices of an orifice plate 30. Then it is cut into ink droplets at a charging electrode 40 and simultaneously is given electric charge in accordance with a printing information signal. And, after the charged ink droplet is deflected at the deflecting electrode 80 in accordance with the amount of charge, it is deflected in the moving direction of the recording paper 100 by the bar electrode 110 arranged asymmetrically to the deflecting plane for the ink droplet between the deflecting electrode 80 and the recording paper 100 and an information is recorded on the recording paper 100, while noncharged ink droplets which are not used for printing are collected in a gutter 90.
