PURPOSE: To efficiently and accurately work flat glass for producing window glass of automobiles, etc., by carrying out consistent operation from cutting of a stock plate to breaking, splitting and grinding finish while performing numerical control with a numerical control device.
CONSTITUTION: A table 1 is moved to a forward advance end to place a flat glass 66 on a cutting table 8 and required cutting scores are formed on the flat glass 66 by a cutter head 4. The table 1 is then moved backward to pull up the flat glass 66 by a breaking and splitting device and the flat glass 66 is broken and split along the cutting scores. The resultant broken and split flat glass 66 is then delivered to a glass fixing table 7 and the edges are ground by a grinding head 3. After completing the grinding, the flat glass 66 is delivered to a lifting and lowering table 60. A series of working operations are performed while carrying out numerical control of linear motion of the table 1 and the cross table 2 and swirling motion of the grinding head 3, etc., with a numerical control device.
