Refining method by blowing in converter

Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of energy of converter gas by refining molten steel in a converter with blown gaseous oxygen, blowing water into the converter to cause a water gas reaction and recovering generated gaseous hydrogen. CONSTITUTION: A lance 12 for blowing gaseous oxygen is put in a converter 11 from the top opening and a jet 15 of gaseous oxygen is blown on molten steel 14 to decarburize the molten steel 14. Gaseous carbon monoxide is generated by the decarburization reaction. Water 16 is spouted from a sublance 13 and reacted with the generated gaseous carbon monoxide to generate gaseous hydrogen and this hydrogen is recovered. COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
